Thank You for Caring

Everyday Linda would come to school on time
And everyday she would bring her first teacher an apple
Fresh picked from her family's orchard
And everyday without fail the teacher would graciously accept
For never before had she eaten a routine breakfast.

But then one day Linda came in,
No apple.
So her teacher walked over to her and touched her shoulder
"Linda my dear, are you alright today?"
The girl looked at her teacher,
Wonderingly.
But then she realized and blushed a deep red.
Teacher! The apple! I am so sorry!
"My dear, it is not the apple of which I am worried"
She replied in a motherly tone.
The girl smiled and nodded,
She had overslept that morning.
"Tomorrow" she said, smiling at her teacher.
And so the teacher understood.
