The Tears of Liberty
She stands a witness to history's changes
And winces at corrupted exchanges
The howls of her children burn her ears
As liberty bursts into tears
Unable to fight back; unable to save
A forlorn mother unable to pave
A way to soothe her children's pain
Those whom are shackled in the chain
of mistakes, of regrets, and of ignorance
The mother keeps weeping; mourning the innocence
of justice, of peace, and of tolerance
but she knows, she does, through the haze
That this is just another phase
of humanity's folly to incorporate rights
and they'll know their mistake once they've reached the heights
