The System's System
Pay for the books,
The seat that I'm sitting in.
Pay for the lights, the water,
The air I breathe.
The accounts are emptying, but my head is filling.
I wanted a degree, and a job.
Now all I have is an essay due and
Empty pockets.
The system is supposed to work,
Educate us for greens,
But we worry so about the how to get there
We forget why we came in the first place.
