Stuck In The Dark
Stuck in the Dark
By Maya Thames
Never would I have thought that I’d be here today,
On my knees crying,
Tears never drying,
I bow my head and pray.
Please Lord help me, I repent my sins,
This is the chapter where it all begins.
I’ve done wrong, terribly wrong,
Yes I will admit.
But whom do I turn to now?
I need some time to vent.
I turn to the black shadows,
I thought they were my friends.
But when I turn around to reconsider,
I get stabbed once again.
Never would I have thought that I’d be here today,
On my knees crying,
Tears never drying,
I bow my head and pray.
Yes my family loves me,
But do I love myself?
Is the respect even there?
It has to start with me before anyone else.
Focus on what will help you build,
Not what makes you fall.
Surround yourself with happiness,
That’ll change it all.
But what happens when evil roams this way?
That feeling comes back again.
I’m drowning in a deep endless pool of darkness.
My body is numb.
The only exit out is for somebody to come
To me. “Please help me!”
I relentlessly scream.
But my cries and my shouts simply mean,
Nothing.
Never would I have thought that I’d be here today,
On my knees crying,
Tears never drying,
I bow my head and pray.
I question my faith every single day.
“This is the day, this is the day, that the Lord has made..”
But Lord how can I rejoice and be glad in it?
I’m tired of being tired,
I just want to be happy like I once was.
I look up to the Heavens,
And his answer did not yet show.
Never would I have thought that I’d be here today,
On my knees crying,
Tears never drying,
I bow my head and pray.
I am lonely, but I trust that it will change.
