Stolen Childhood

Why is it kids are forced to grow up so fast?

Never taking a moment to let their childhood last

For them, adulthood comes too soon

Not even yet in their full bloom

They start off innocent and pure

The meaning of adult, not yet quite sure

Only focused on fun and play

And not the constant worries of the day

They believe growing up will be a breeze

Tackling love, change, reality with ease

Then it's on to trading dolls and cars

For attitude and alcohol at bars

Soon enough they realize the mistake they've made

Hoping and wishing they could take back that trade

This wish comes too late

For they've already sealed their fate

Now stuck as an adult at a premature age

Slowly but surely filling with sadness and rage

Always remember to take childhood slow

And remember you'll have your time to grow
