Stars Aligning

I look at that first twinkling star.

Remember when we looked at them through your bedroom window?

I make the same wish: soon, we won’t be this far.

With you, every trip became karaoke in your car.

I smile at those memories which seem so long ago.

I look at that first twinkling star.

Remember when we played darts at your father’s bar?

You definitely didn’t let me win; I preferred it that way though.

I make the same wish: soon, we won’t be this far.

You like hearing me play the guitar.

I started playing again because I like making you smile, you know?

I look at that first twinkling star.

Remember when we got stomach aches from all those cookies in the jar?

You wanted to throw the rest out, but I said no.

I make the same wish: soon, we won’t be this far.

Cookies! That remains the only area we ever spar.

Does that mean we could, one day, become a stellar combo?

I look at that first twinkling star.

I make the same wish: soon, we won’t be this far.
