Stars

The ancient Incans used the dark spots in the milky way as their constellations

Instead of depending on the brighter points in the sky

They allowed the emptiness to rule their life

Why does everyone rely on the happy moments,

The bright spots,

Of their life?

Why depend so heavily on the fleeting moments of happiness

When, any moment, they can disappear?

Leaving you with nothing,

Empty and alone.

I want to be like the Incans.

I want to be able to rely on the darkness,

Then when it leaves

The only thing I can be left with

Is light

And when the light leaves

I'll still have the darkness that I had grown accustomed to

I would never feel disappointed

Or lost

I would always have something to look forward to

The ancient Incans used the dark spots in the milky way as their constellations

Why can't we all feel the same way?
