Star Spangled Lies

I look upon a nation that once was great,

But I'm blinded by my star spangled eyes.

I see children,

homeless and starving.

I see men and women,

without jobs or hope.

I see the sick and dying,

waiting for help that never comes.

I see soldiers,

who don’t know why they’re at war.

They’ll tell you,

“We’re giving them food and shelter.”

They’ll tell you,

“We’re creating new jobs every day.”

They’ll tell you,

“We’re doing everything we can.”

They’ll tell you,

“We’re establishing democracy across the world.”

“They” make us think we’re still great.

And we believe their star spangled lies.
