On the Spectrum

I don’t quite fit in

I don’t quite fit in at school

At practice, at parties

I asked why

Now I know

I’m on the spectrum

It means you’re on a rainbow

Some people are on

Red

Who have trouble talking or

 Listening to others

and some may not even talk

some struggle with learning anything new

That’s just how they are

Some people are on

Orange

Who have trouble communicating

Not able to behave themselves

That’s just how they are

Some people are on

Yellow

Green

Blue

And Purple

I suppose you could say I’m on purple

No behavior problems

Or learning issues

But

Trouble making friends

Keeping conversations going

Or maintaining eye contact

And that’s just how I am

Just like those on

Red

Orange

Yellow

Green

And Blue

Are

Now I know

Who I am

How I am

Why I am

Who I am

And

What makes me

Who I am

And now I know

The who, how, why, and what

But

I still want to know

The when

Maybe never

Maybe soon
