Spare Change

Location

Change, it's like the rattling metals in my wallet.

It jingles in my pocket.

Always there

Found on the corner of streets

And in between cushion seats

Waiting

Sometimes thrown away

And missed

Kept for safe keeping for when we think we really need it.

Change. It’s coming forth like a wind

Around in a circle, so does the tide pull in

Up to the shores, it kisses my toes

It leaves and comes back

A never ending courtship

Change, is what we hope for

And what we tell others to believe in

But Change is always happening

It does not require a slogan, it does not need posters

Like you're waiting to be drafted

But change, turns more into chains

When were bounded by the rules

Of those whose pockets are full

Used to corrupt

And gain way

Less about changing

And more about

Cha-ching ching

And I see big men and woman

Big purses and hair

And big eyes for aspiration

They want change to happen

Institutionalized change from

Organic belief and natral causation

To calculated wins

And plotted points, waiting

For the right kind of change to happen.

But we are the change

Every touch, finger human blessed soul

We are the change

Not built or produced by labels and machines

We are the change

That we see everyday

In the opening of curtains

The sundresses and leaves from green to orange

We are the change

Not the little things left in it

Tip jars and others benefit

We are the change that can bring

A world of peace

Or equity

Blue skies and warm smiles

Intertwined fingers

And oppressions release

You wonder how to get there

How to live it

How to dream,

And relinquish unfitted rage

All you need to realize

Is you and I

We're way more

Than just spare change.
