Someone Once Told Me

Location

Someone once told me that I was pretty.

Pretty I asked? No, no.

I am beautiful.

I am as flawless as the untainted sky,

Like the stars are my eyes that will never cease to amaze

Tree branches in the winter are not as attractive as my ankles or wrists

Nor can the flowers that blossoms off cacti compare to my red lips

My mind is like the ocean, not even I know what lies at it’s depths

My heart is a goldmine and the blood the rushes through my veins

Create needle patchwork across my skin

I am beautiful

I am perfection

The way my nose doesn’t quite fit my face makes me sing

I know that no one else can feel this way

Because it is mine, it is me

I have the compassion of a summer daisy and the personality of the wind

I feel limitless, forever expanding

My voice is fresh snow on a winter afternoon

When the sun touches my face

It turns the color of the full moon in an autumn midnight

So if someone tells me that I am pretty

I laugh

Pretty I ask? No, no.

I am beautiful.
