Society's cry for help
I learned from a deaf man
that society is beauty's flaw,
and empowerment its greatest fear.
I heard a Cherokee cry:
"Am I no greater than a white man
that I have to leave my own land?"
Tubman taught me
a worrior's heart is never broken,
and a worrior's soul is never foresaken
because a worrior is never forgotten.
Experience forced me to observe
the injustice and racism that've always existed
and realized that they were all society's cry for help.
