Shuttered Hope
He sits upon his lofty throne,
with a crown all rusty gold;
Watching darkness all around;
Empty halls, lit no more, all joy gone.
Sunlight beckons, birds, bees, flowers-
His heart responds,
But empty halls echo with dreary laughter;
skinny pain, killing silence, agonizing peace-
No light remains.
then a voice! He looks around,
Light fills his heart,
The voice- as if his own whispered-
"The windows, oh ye lost in the dark,
Are merely shuttered!"
