I see you’re once full of life face,

Now pale and lifeless come through the door.

I am surrounded by people.

But all I see are your eyes.

They once held a burning flame.

But now there is nothing but a dim flicker.

My glass shatters as it slips away from me.

Just like my life did for you.

The memories come flooding back,

Just like the blood red wine now consuming the carpet.

All the lies you held within yourself.

The “I love you’s” that you repeated like a broken record.

I stupidly believed you, like a child believes in magic.

Like a dog, you begged me to come back.

I did.

But now look where we are.

Eleven days with no words said.

And you show up here unexpected,

But expect me to crawl back to you.

Like I might still trust you.

But all you have done is shatter me.

Just like that glass.

That glass that is now bleeding its contents over the pure, untouched

Carpet.

That glass that is now in shards.

That glass that can never be put back together.

That glass that will never work right again.

That glass that will never be the same.

And that pure carpet, destroyed.

Just like me.

But the part that’s so twisted,

Like vines climbing up the side of a building, is that,

I still love you.
