Screenagers

Dear Cellphone,

I’m addicted to your blue light,

That keeps me wide awake at night.

The comforting glow that I’m sure you all know

soaks in through my eyes and warms my toes.

The enticing shine envelops my brain,

Giving no option to abstain.

A time travel machine or all knowing nicotine,

All from a tiny little screen.

It has become the voice of reason and apparently provides the truth;

All to blame for the murder of the world’s youth.

Filled the streets with screenagers,

Who are unable to talk to strangers.

A millennials biggest disease,

Never setting the mind to ease.

Addicted like alcohol, addicted like drugs,

Does anyone know where I put my ear buds?

However, I can’t be mad about the addiction

Because it’s a self conviction.

But my three hour sleep is beginning to take a toll.

Your blue light is inside my soul.
