Schizophrenia

You feel compelled to explain,

& frustrate yourself

with the short comings of language,

grow cross & blame yourself,

but mutations in the shape of a single molecule

have noticeable consequences.

They haven’t pinpointed where exactly,

but everyone agrees something is wrong.

You cannot believe yourself,

more than credulous,

you cannot tell where the truth concludes,

that fumble into a lie.

My head aches trying to explain!

That dumbfounded look,

the furrow in betwixt your brows,

that helpless surrender into confusion,

a graceless falling where a single detail

means more than

the whole.
