Saccharine

God bless this mess

This holy carcass

The post-birth, pre-death

Chemically combusting reaction

Protein in and protein out

Thoughts are what I could do without

How can you quantify quality when

Quantum quandaries continue to elude both of us

My brother, you shine like an apple

Glazed in Abel and Cain Sugar

Reflective, rotting, a remnant

Of tricks and treats and everything in between

And I remember the minute that I learned

Everyone I loved was going to hell

Lucky for me

I don’t love myself

The fuel goes in

It ignites and burns in acid

I carry fire and brimstone within me

Everywhere I go

So don’t blame yourself

When I go someplace else

Especially if you can’t follow me

Certain trails remain unpaved

To those found pure of heart

This I have already confessed

I walk the tightrope between

Cynicism and self-manipulation

My blood is caramel

My skin sugar

My hair is cotton candy

And my heart taffy

So imagine my surprise

When I discovered that

God has a sweet tooth,

And that’s why he devoured me.
