The Riddle of the Mind

Location

Hope for the best,

Plan for the worst,

End up somewhere in the middle.

My life it seems

Is nothing more than a riddle.

A web of words,

With no meaning,

Causing joy, sadness,

Or a hopeless feeling.

A phrase can bring a smile,

But only lasting a little while.

We start with a laugh

But words always attack.

It takes one tongue to sting,

Or a simple melody

To cause a change of mind.

To flip the switch so suddenly.

So many memories

That stay and haunt me,

Setting my mind on an endless spiral.

It brings tears

And sometimes a smile,

As I pass through time

Sorting through the files.
