Resilience
The first days of the year
Uneventful, typical
Like the empty ground of winter
I was a daisy
Buried deep under frost
Procrastination, Loathing, Fear
Deeper than snow
Hard and frozen
Delicate
Spring brought storms
The sky began to

Until the rain became a downpour
Piercing winds became relentless
And the chaos pulled me in
After the storm
Ripped apart the garden
Thrashed the ground beneath it
It looked like nothing remained
But weeds
Amazingly
A bud earthed from the soil
Glossy with life
Kissed with dew
Forlorn, Unsure
From the Spring came Summer
Who hugged the ground with its glow
Uncertainty hung in the humid air
Yet everyday thereafter brought new growth
Self-worth, Positivity, Carefree Bliss
The frost of the winter thawed
Its presence only a reminder of how far I had come
How far I would go
Nourished by love the tender petals soon

to Bloom
I stood up again
Against the winds and the rain
The Negativity
Against my fears
I allowed myself to catch the positivity I chased
After I walked into the sunshine
And let its rays warm my skin
The brisk fall air caused the daisy to wilt
The winter snow buried it
But underneath
A new bud was waiting to spring
To Grow
To Love
Inside my heart, the daisy remains
Beautiful,
Courageous,
Resilient.
