Remember Your Cage

Location

It's just a cage.

This building of words and numbers,

Is just a cage.

Inside this cage are

Minds,

Hopes,

Futures.

Our flock of dreams is trapped here.

Behind these desks and tests and expectations.

This cage is getting full,

On the verge of breaking,

The eldest are about  break free.

But when we escape this cage,

Won't there be sadness?

Won't we miss that builing of words and numbers?

The faces that taught us to dream, to learn, to discern:

Won't we miss them?

The walls and halls that gave us wings to soar:

Won't we thank them?

This cage has served its purpose,

We are confident and strong,

But when we enter open air I can only hope,

We will never forget our cage:

Our home.
