recipe for brown eyes

it feels like i’ve

finally figured out how

they made your eyes:

add one spoonful of

honey sweeter than any

words i’ve ever written;

three cups of light

straight from the sunset

and just as warm;

a pinch of ancient

amber and the knowledge

that comes with it;

the smell of warm

cookies on a day

the sky is grey;

and a sleepy awakening

before the sun has

even greeted the day.

mix well and place

in a perfect face

with a warm smile;

add one boy who

wants only to be

part of that warmth.
