The Quake that Made the Earth Spin Faster

Location

It started very unexpectedly

A quake that hit Japan at two forty-three

At first the earth began to moan and grumble

And then the Rising Sun sank and crumbled

The buildings were like jelly in a bowl

Beginning to crash

And then soon after

Proceeded a great splash

The citizens fled to higher ground

As they watched the wave that swept around

Everything fell down before their eyes

Japan lost hope and was filled with cries

Nuclear plants were rockets exploding to the sky

And hundreds of thousands of people died

Until now it had been a natural disaster

So the calamity grew bigger and faster

Though the tragedy is great

Japan's pride will not break

The least we can do is reach through the fray

Think a quiet thought and pray
