Pride in Truth

Sat, 06/01/2019 - 11:54 -- fbunter

We learn the most from choices made in fire

The Bible Belt taught me my choice was made

To love a girl and settle down, required

Who’d choose to unravel that hand, already played.

The moment felt desire call out from within

I kept it down, it kept away from sight

By hiding truth I could be safe from sin

The safety I’d been taught was only right

My inner child kept holding those false thoughts

Of who should be the me the world will see

I listened to that child until I fought

And I could show who I was born to be

In trusting my own truth inside

I overcame, I felt my pride
