PREFACE TO A TWENTY VOLUME SOB NOTE

Location

When he asked me

What grade I think I deserved

I was speechless.

He gave me nothing but a stern look

And walked away.

What just happened?

And now, he was at the front of the room,

Angry that none of us did our homework,

Frustrated that we were loud and rambunctious,

And disappointed that he wrote letter of recommendations for some.

I wanted to sob.

After class ended, I ran to the bus

Trying not to show my emotions

Breaking down as I rode home

Reflecting on what I could have done

Knowing that the only thing

I had to do now is keep pushing on.

That night, I sent an email

Apologizing and thanking him

For all that he has done

Hoping to mend the disaster that has passed.

Minutes later, he replied

Saying that I was forgiven

With the hopes that this will never happen

Ever again.
