Pomme de Terre
Location
I am a testament to
small
potatoes.
I am a testament to childhood dreams I forgot I had,
Only to uncover them in fit of tears and to the knowledge that
at least something familiar, something sound would be slapping back at the soles of my feet
If I turned the knob and walked to Pete's.
We've been friends since third grade, a place that only exists in our memories
And in a building who's sobs can be heard if you listen very,
very,
softly.
Now, I sleep with the blinds always open a crack.
Fluorescent light echoes through the patio,
I pretend it is the moon; I pretend it is her sweet, milky laughter.
I am a testament to new beginnings,
to small potatoes.
"Pomme de terre",
Apple of the Earth.
