Poetry Has Taught Me That I Am Luminous

I have often felt invisible; insignificant when compared to other people. But I am luminous.

I’ve walked down streets with friends and been blatantly ignored when someone we both know passes by. But I am luminous.

I’ve been forgotten in roll calls and literally not seen in rooms. But I am luminous.

But, I am luminous so I don’t want you to know my name if you don’t know what it means. I don’t care if I am invisible to the entire world, as long as a few people care enough to throw flour in the air to find me. I don’t want you to know me unless you deserve to. Because I may be riddled with imperfections but I am luminous
