Please Don't Say Goodbye

Location

Little brother walks in the room to say good-night

What he doesn’t know is that this is the last time

When he comes to wake you up,

He thinks you’re just asleep

Then suddenly he realizes

That he can’t hear you breathe

Calls for Mom and Dad,

Says that something’s wrong.

He thinks you might need help,

Doesn’t know that you’re gone.

Dad comes running up the stairs to make sure you’re alright,

When he realizes what you did,

That big, strong man breaks down and cries.

Your mama blames herself,

says she should've been there

You thought there was nobody who cared

She would've stayed with you all night

Begging you "Please don't say good-bye"

The school finds out the next day,

Tells your classmates over the P.A.

There’s a moment of silence,

Everyone’s in shock,

Then the first person cries,

Soon tears are falling from everyone’s eyes

Your best friend blames himself,

says he should've been there

You thought there was nobody who cared

He would've stayed with you all night

Begging you "Please don't say good-bye"

Fast-forward 5 years,

It’s almost worse after all this time

Mom watches your video every night

Cause it’s your final goodbye.

Dad’s lost in his work, trying to keep you off his mind,

Because he just can’t believe you died.

And your brother, he’s followed down your path

He cuts his arms and dresses in black

He thinks about you every night

Still can’t sleep without the light.

I blame myself,

I should've been there

He thought there was nobody who cared

He'll never see another blue sky,

So for the rest of you,

I'm begging you

"Please don't say good-bye"

Those of you thinking about hurting yourself or committing suicide, put down the gun, knife, rope, pills, and go talk to someone who loves you, because there is someone who loves you, no matter what you think.  Please don’t do this. It hurts those around you more than you could ever know.
