Planetary Courtship
Location
I am honestly a bit disappointed.
It was a brief desire, but I wholeheartedly
wanted to give you my world.
I'm sorry it's too small for your
wanderlusting soul.
Silly me for even thinking about it, right?
At least I'm back to reality.
I don't need foreign souls passing through my
atmosphere,
Tainting my untouched earthen lands.
I don't need them ruining the blossoming
harvest.
Maybe I ached for a beautiful courtship,
Something like the seahorses' graceful intertwined tails as they
circle, circle, circle each other.
And maybe you were nothing more than an asteroid attracted by my
gravitational pull.
I'll return to my isolated orbit, looking in from the outside,
Continuing my woeful dance around the sun--alone.
