patches of wonder

Sun, 07/30/2017 - 11:58 -- rm18

i saw the world today, spread out

over the mountains and over the seas; swirling

into the ether, straining toward oblivion.

i heard the world today:

a silent melody, a metronome tocking and rush hour,

chaos. why is it that i always hear chaos?

i heard the sound of a rainbow, of children chasing

the ice cream truck. young men biking to work in suits of aluminum.

i heard the birth of a world,

of a child. i heard a virus conquer that amoeba,

just there.

i smelled the world today--smelled it and smelt it.

i smelled the rain and the cold and the drought.

i smelled the fear. the star dust. lifted my divine hammer and wrought

the explosion into filigree, a cosmic mobile;

stars endlessly dueling;

and the soft emptiness of companionship

and longing.
