Outside the Binary

I exist outside the Binary,

And for that I am not free.

I do not fit in your view,

So silent then I must be.

I cannot speak of my pain,

Nor my desires or my thoughts.

I must endure without a voice,

Because I don’t fit neatly in your box.

do you know this silence hurts me?

That it drives me further away?

All I want is to speak freely,

All I want to do is stay….

So open up your ears and hearts…

Please, don’t close them off to me!

Listen, I beg, without judgment...

Though you may not agree.

Open wide your circle, Tentative

though you make be...

And allow me a place

To be this person that is me.
