Out of Body Experience

The last time you felt the Southern Californian sand, you had my heart

It felt new in your hands

Fresh and beating

And now it's different this time

Because I found my heart sitting in the backseat of my car

Crumpling up the words "I love you" because it no longer knew where to apply such sentiment

And I found my brain sitting next to my heart whispering, "I told you so. Why didn't you listen?"

Well, my gut became anxious from angry butterflies swirling and fluttering around

So it told my hands to grab the steering wheel and let the emergency break down

Rambunctious small hands put my car into drive and yelled at my feet, "let's get the hell moving!"

So my feet slammed the gas and my eyes rolled back, because they didn't want to see where this was going
