What does the future ask of us?
What does it have to say?
About all the mistakes we are about to make,
are making, will have made?

It cries out for the innocent,
for the lost and for the gone;
The lives that have been shattered
for the right and for the wrong.

It wonders how much blood will shed
Or how many tears will fall
Before we see that the doings we’ve done
have helped no one at all.

It hangs its head in despair
For the people of its world
Have surely seen their own collapse,
Their own end they have unfurled.

It cries out for a listening ear,
Someone to stand and take its side
To defend, protect and adhere to
the very foundation of our pride.

The land we were once so proud of
Is crumbling more and more each day
So take a seat and listen,
What does the future have to say?
