Only One

Step by step we walk a million miles

Moving over mountains, through the sky

Slowly wearing out the souls of our shoes

Carving canyons in our wake

Hand in hand an act across the years

Brother follows Brother though the dark

Children clinging to their mothers clothes

Teaching them to walk in time

One by one fair faces fold and gray

Filling in the footsteps of the past

Lost among the many slated faces

Hiding hearts of quite discord

I ask for them to hunger

 The undiscovered night

A bright and frantic future

A sweet inspired light

To turn and say “who am I?”

And breed a broken rank

To raise a revolution

And paint a face once blank

All it takes is one.
