The One Thing
The stillness in the midnight air,
rushes to your skin.
Raising each and every hair,
where do I begin?
The story starts long ago,
a connection that was sure to last.
In your belly is where I began,
we met so incredibly fast.
I don’t know what I’d do without you.
I surely would not be alive.
You gave me a chance to finally see,
a world full of surprise.
You gave me shelter, food, and clothes,
and little did I know.
I’d be stranded on this island,
with no place to go.
The great thing is I have no doubt,
that it will be okay.
I have my mother by my side,
to give me love each day.
