An Odyssey In Autumn

The turbulences of Winter, Spring, and Summer pass

Enthusiasm swells as home can now be viewed

In the distance yet on the horizon

Though I am advised to exercise caution--

Since the final stretch is often most dangerous--

I cannot help but feel a nostalgia for the days of Autumn

I long to fall asleep in my own bed--

And after awakening--

Go out to stand

On my own front porch

To witness, with the briskness

Of the seabreeze

And the early Autumn morning

Dulling my senses,

A light drizzle

Summon a wave of fog

To wash over the sea

And drape its harsh surface,

Trapping the monsters of the deep

And concealing all fears.
