North Carolina

Location

It's six o'clock,

My alarm goes off.

Time to get up,

And walk the dogs.

The crisp, clean air

Is refreshing to breathe.

The dogs take off,

Free of their leash.

I chase them up the street,

But I'm not worried.

This is North Carolina,

I know that they'll be,

In the hands of loving neighbors,

As I apologize.

They'll just smile and tell me,

That they don't mind.

Later I get to school,

And the teachers will light up,

When I learn something new.

They'll let me use the materials,

They bought themselves,

So I can succeed,

When the budget's hell.

But that's North Carolina,

That's how it is.

Down here it goes like this:

North Carolina,

The place to be.

It has everything you could want,

Or could ever need.

It's my dirt road,

My city lights,

My mountain top,

My crystal sky.

It's the sand I'm covered in,

At the beach.

The sunny safe haven,

That welcomes me,

Home.

Yeah North Carolina,

That's what I call home.

I stop by the grocery store,

After school.

Don't have my MVP,

But they do.

The cashier swipes hers,

Saves me a few bucks.

In North Carolina,

That's not luck.

The next person in line,

Comes up a little short.

Someone else pays the difference,

This isn't New York.

We have a hospitality,

That can't be matched.

Once you come to NC,

You won't want to go back,

Home.

Yeah this is my home.

This is my dirt road,

My city lights,

My mountain top,

My crystal sky.

It's the sand I'm covered in,

At the beach.

The sunny safe haven,

That welcomes me,

Home.

Yeah North Carolina,

That's what I call home.

That's what I call,

Friday night football,

Or at a lake catching fish.

Sheriff's over for a beer,

When he's done with his shift.

That's what I call,

Coming home to a big house,

Life's cheaper in the south.

I'm a North Carolinian,

Young, free, and proud.

We support our troops,

And the Lord above,

Who protect us and sacrifice,

For the state we love.

God bless America,

But more importantly,

God bless North Carolina,

And its ability,

To be my dirt road,

And my city lights,

To be my mountain top,

And my crystal sky.

To be the sand I'm covered in,

At the beach,

The sunny safe haven,

That welcomes me,

Home.

Yeah North Carolina,

That's what I call home.

Oh North Carolina is the place to be.

Small enough to have a sense of community,

But still big enough for you to cut all ties.

Hop in your car and leave your past behind.
