No Color

No color is more beautiful than the other
But, I'm "pretty for a darkskin girl"
So, I'm always separated from any other.

So what I'm called beautiful by my mother.
Society establishes lighter skin as the best.
Hm, but no color is more beautiful than the other?

Darkskin is classified as dirty and unattractive so I suffer.
I am not good enough
And I'm always separated from any other.

You use it in an attempt to determine who I am and will be,
when I already have the strikes of gender and race against me.
How can it be a compliment when your words only smother
Fuck your ideals of beauty!
No color is more beautiful than the other!

Behind this deceiving smile of mine, there is something to uncover:
The single though of shoving those words back into your mouth
No color is more beautiful than the other,
But, i'm always separated from any other.
