No Cause for Alarm

  1. Good morning to the moon

Waking up this young gets old

As well as the cold wind

From my ceiling

I’m not a fan.

Dad decided to make coffee this morning

So I stir it with my

Cerulean spoon from when I was two.

A poor morning detective,

I can’t find my backpack

Or any of Blue’s Clues.

  1. The same apology to my band director

For being a minute late, a minute

Short, a minute behind.

Bars and bars and bars span

In front of my eyes

The only time I’m not imprisoned.

Leaving, I see my

Favorite backstabber leaning on

The trophy case, struggling to hold themselves

Up on the strengths of other people.

  1. I missed a lesson in AP Physics

I mean, I was there, but I wasn’t paying attention

On hiatus for ten minutes

Just looking at at a wall

Then another, then another

Then another

Why can’t I hear the bulldozer?

That’s just outside

A physical, concrete diplomat

That tears down barriers.

  1. Good night to the sun,

To the Father, the Holy Spirit,

Amongst other things I

Don’t know enough about

I’ll be up until 2:30 again tonight

Probably worried about what I shouldn’t be

Blue marbles roll out of my mouth

And onto the ground.

Laughing, I slip on them and fall asleep.
