That Night It Thundered

It rained last night and I swear i saw your face in the distance
But you looked away did not say a word to me
I knew you would be very shy
But i really did not know the reason why

It rained last night and i swear I saw your face in the distance
and you smiled at me and waved
but you still did not speak
maybe you were scared of me

It rained last night and I swear I saw your face in the distance
and i sang you songs about love and everything
You danced in the puddles but never came to close to me
and i was too scared to reach out to you because i thought you would run away

We played hide and go seek
and i knew every hiding spot no one would ever look
but you would always find me and i would never find you

It rained last night and I saw your face in the distance
and as soon as I went to reach out to you,
our mother told me NO MORE
she is gone, not there anymore, i had to let her go, i cant afford being a teen mother of two

I looked back hoping that she was lying
only to realize that no longer could i see you in the distance
I began to cry and said I'm sorry
