New Day

She wakes up every morning

To a brand new day.

She is aware of every warning,

Yet she still has a smiling face.

Here peers all around her

See the worst through the best,

But she deters

and refuses to be like the rest.

She sees crowns all around

Like diamonds in the rough.

When she hears the whining sound,

She knows they have had enough.

With all she knows, she goes and says,

"Keep your head held high."

That girl is me in many ways,

reaching for the sky.
