Never Pretty

I've never been pretty.

Too chubby, too fond of curse words, large shoulders and back fat,

Yet I may have something.

Maybe it's my voice, the melodic way it can reach the highest notes.
Maybe it's my eyes; one blue, one green.
Maybe it's my skin - stark white but smooth, clear.

I am the moon, Artemis.
I am Bastet, nimble and sleek.
I am Erato, lithe and beautiful.

I am beautiful.

I have never been pretty.
