never judge a book by its cover
pay close attention christians
i will always testify to what The Lord is doing in my life
i will always tesify to my death bed
as i say it, i won't be surprise if christian folks roll their eyes or suck their teeth
i don't care if you don't like me
God loves me no matter what
it's amazing how people say that they love someone
but let someone come in with tattoos all over their body people's love will change faster than the road runner
i don't have tattoos personally, but how much you want to bet that christians will look at me sideways
because i wear thick jewelry, i'm loud, and i'm passionately outspoken
wow, wow, wow, and wow
talk about judging someone on their cover
and not know what's inside of a person
when i introduce myself as the poet, i am known as MVP
Most Valuable Poet, the proud taino black puerto rican man of God
as a man, I'm Robert Velez Jr., the man who's chasing after Jesus's greatness
does it mean i'm a perfect christian, no i'm not
i promise you that you're not a perfect christian either
am i the one, no i'm not
you're not the one either
we are one body of Christ that must be living testimonies to inspire others
to lead them to our Shepherd, Christ Jesus
the Faith, the Relationship I have with Jesus is about love, boldness, meekness, and understanding
of how we need to be better examples
heads up christians
what i'll convey will get on your nerves, will even sting you
we need to hear with our ears, see with our eyes, and digest this to your soul
i love Jesus with my mind, soul, and strength
religion bears no fruit because it creates divsion like our president is attempting to do
it's sad enough that people in this world judge without knowing your name
it's more shamefully sad that people who attend church
whether it's every sunday or overall church events
and you look down on your fellow christians, and even worse
look down on those whose don't know Jesus, The Bible, what their faith should be is an embarrassment as believers
if you're feeling offended from what i said, then i'm describing you
being a christian does not mean i'm better than people
it means that Jesus is showing us how to live Godly
and separate us from the ways of the world
God will put people in our lives to inspire, not to look down upon because their principles
does not align with yours
We as christians should not be in cycle where we disassociate ourselves with others
because we are not equally yoked
it is our duty to encourage others in the word of God by not only speaking about it
but living the life of Jesus.
let someone tell me i'm less christian because i grew up as hip hop fan listening to 2pac or Biggie
let someone tell me i'm less christian because i watch violent movies that is part of our harsh reality
in order to preach the word of God, we must know who and what is around us
where the Holy Spirit is burning a deep desire in each of us to be fearlessly bold
and lovingly authentic
our great commission from Jesus is discipleship in building His Kingdom, not ours
have we forgot the story of Paul ( when he was saul )
one of the worse kind of individuals and look how The Lord used him
look how he used a tax collector name Matthew, and made him holy.
there were other stories in the bible where people acted, and behaved horribly
look how The Lord uses them for His glory
so if he can love those folks, we can certainly love people
Jesus is confirming my heart with a few verses that's affirming this poem
Matthew 7:1-2 conveys " Do not judge or you too be judge. For in the same way, you judge others,
you will be judge" or
Luke 6:37 " Do not judge and you will not be judge. Do not condemn and you will not be condemn.
Forgive, and you will be forgive"
and if that's not enough
Luke 6:31" Do onto others as you would have them do onto you"
it would be nice if the world, and people of society would not judge a book by its cover
but rather read on the inside to gain more insights as to why.
i pray that chrisitans exemplify the life of God when people see Jesus in each one of us.
Jesus died for our sins so we can have everlasting life with Him
and not point fingers to be self righteous where your own points of view is full of distortions
i come from a place in the bronx where we were expected to write our wills before the age of 18.
i'm proud of where i came from because The Lord put me here for a reason
not to seek other's approval, but His.
this world is full of people who judge because we have different perspectives
or different point of views
this world is full of hatred, suffocating us with evil infested ways of living
let us be lead by the Spirit that is full of life, and full of love that brings hope
when we obey Him, His name is magnify where people see Him in each one of us.

Amen to that, I stand in total agreement
God is great

This is incredible. The way you described christianity is truly very well done, if anything, it seems to be a reminder as well.
I am very pleased to have stumbled upon this, not only is your method of writing very inspiring, but so is your way of thinking!
Keep doing the same! May God remain with you

I absolutely love this poem. I believe God led me to it. I was just on a Christian website and then looked at my bookmarks and this site and then out of all the poems I found this one. I was born into an atheist Jewish family, but converted to Christianity at an early age. I agree with the message of your poem not to judge and not to point fingers and your quotes from the Bible are right on point about not judging and treating others the way we wish we were treated. Absolutely great job.

Yes, Amen to that! This is the the true gospel. Love one another. And because Jesus loved us first we can love others. Good stuff.
