The Neophyte Athlete's Escape
Location
There once was a neophyte athlete who went forth
She noticed the state
Of the bathroom she changed in
How horrid!
She felt her life was at stake
Changing in front of others
Gets easier, she thought
But her mind disregards it
like clothes, she discards it
But maybe...
She should start eating less cake
She arrived at the golden house of sprinting
No one was there
She turned 'round in despair
She'd forgotten the team practiced
In the pool hall that day
She went through the maze of halls
Praying she would hear the calls
Of her team mates through the walls
Telling her she didn't have to run through the whole building that day
Alas she could not,
The bridges were locked
Through the icy cold she fought
To arrive and warm up with her
Whole group of teammates that day
She arrived while they chanted
Their long limbs enchanted
those who spotted them from afar
They looked at her smiling,
Their friendly faces beguiling
To those who spotted them from afar
And she had not known
That she'd feel at home
With a family whose wing
Under she’d been
Little less than a fortnight ago
Yet she sprinted and whirled
Cavorted and twirled
She had never felt as free
As she had in her life that day
Her feet steadily pounded,
Against the mat they resounded
While she took in her surroundings
The chatter of girls
The laughter and swirls she heard and observed
As she lived her escape
But she had to slow down
The sharp pain brought her down
And her coaches frowned
When they realized what was taking place
It came with a price
This happiness could be her demise
Her muscles were aching,
Shoulders were shaking
How could she get through today?
Alas she recovered,
Yes her limbs she recovered
From a worrisome hold
From pain sharp and bold
But she knew she would do it again
She knew for a fact she would she would do it again
For the smiling faces
For the wonderful places
She was taken to when
Her feet steadily pounded
When against the mat they resounded
While she took in her surroundings
The chatter of girls
The laughter and swirls she heard and observed
As she lived her escape
When she finally lived her escape
