My Staffordshire Thinks You're Sexy

Thu, 08/06/2015 - 21:57 -- JCWimby

You’re rather odd, you think.

Not ugly or different or repulsive-

Just an individual one would consider ‘other’

Your hair gives a decisive screw you to gravity,

(That whole add water technique is a joke)

It’s coarse and crunchy and sometimes leaves rivets of blood on your fingers

Your face is an irregular shape

Not completely round or defined

Like it can’t decide if it wants to get rid of the baby fat or cut people with your jaw

Your breasts are like the size of a baby’s head

One with a stained shirt

They sit on your chest, basking in the Georgia heat in a pool of their own sweat

You have stretch marks

Hereditary, you think

As if you already don’t have problems identifying yourself on the ‘overweight’ versus ‘fleshed out’ scale

Your legs are defined

Not toned or thick

You have strong thighs under mounds of flesh and calves that could crush a toy car

Your feet are infected

But just the last two toes

And the heels and underside of two resemble limestone on a bathroom wall

Your face is covered with bumps and bruises and little blemishes from where you met the wall and your brother’s fist and the pavement

Your back has that weird mark near your spine

You’ve got hair covering your body- it grows in batches below your elbow- and now that you’ve started shaving it looks even more noticeable

There are scars on your arms and legs from playing with the mutt asleep awkwardly on your knee.

She’s irritating and attention seeking and makes sure you know that she’s in the room

She’s half your size and still jumps on you like a puppy whenever she’s happy or excited.

She licks your elbow and drags you outside when your mood turns sour and stale

She curls up in the crook of your legs when you lay down in bed

She’s a mutt and she’s beautiful  - and she knows it even without the world telling her

She licks you when you come home covered in sweat and French fry grease

She thinks you look amazing when you drag yourself through the door and collapse on the couch

She never looks at you at thinks you’re eccentric because you’re the best thing that ever happened to her.

She’s the best thing that ever happened for you even when she makes it simple to imagine all the things you could do if not for her

She’s the reason you know you’re doing something right - especially when it feels like your just stumbling along

Your dog thinks you’re awesome – and that’s the best oddity of all.
