My Poetry of Life
When I was just a tike,
More specifically two,
I started to rhym words together,
And recite things like poets do.
Fast forward to when I was older,
Now I was in school;
I made a poem like a nursery rhym,
I thought it was pretty cool.
As I hit those hard teen years and on,
My poetry became songs;
Expressing my feelings and longings and fears,
How I felt I and others were wronged.
Poetry has always been part of my life,
Weaved in it like ribbon in a braid;
It seems to burst from all of us,
When we feel happy, sad, angry, or afraid.
So don't be scared to write a poem,
When it comes to you;
Poems got me through some tough times,
They can help you, too.
