My Life This Year

Tue, 01/10/2017 - 19:24 -- Woodley

My life this year, simply put,

Has been a treadmill underfoot,

Ever moving and gaining speed,

Toward the day I can finally leave,

Off to college I soon will go,

I was so different a year ago

Only one year and how fast it flew,

In only one year, how much I grew,

Only one year, and so much has changed,

In only one year, now life is arranged

A year ago today I had no clue,

What one year later I was to do,

To college I would not leave,

Yet now, it’s all I see,

A year ago today, I couldn’t see the date

When I would apply to Colorado State

After all this time has passed,

I sit here in my chair and laugh,

To think what I would have missed,

Had I not taken opportunity in my fist,

And held tight to the ideal,

That I could be one to steal,

An education for myself,

With just a year and some help

My life this year has been so changing,

To both my mindset and my view,

Of the world, which prior was skewed,

My life this year has done me fine,

A lot of change in one year’s time,

I leave you with a simple note,

I need money for college,

Have you been in this boat?
