My Letter

This letter is for the son whos life was snatched away and drowned in a lake of hatred

because he was suspected to have whistled at a white woman

This letter is for the father who was stripped of human value while being beat in the streats of ignorance

because of suspected intoxication

This letter is for the uncle who was strangled infront of the eyes of this undiscerning society and as we walk by as if this is the definition of our normal even though we hear his unforgiving scream for help

because he was suspected to have been selling cigarettes

This letter is for the child who was shot down by the wolf disguised as a sheep, the person we borrow sugar from also known as our neighbor

because he was suspected to have attacked the wolf first

This letter is for the American citizen who was found dead in her jail cell, "They" pronounced it suicide by hanging from the ropes of disgust yet there was no sign of bruising around her neck

this was because she was suspected to have failed to signal

Your mind should be at ease to know that your lives and stories were never and will never be swept under the rug, you have done way more than bring awareness to the monstrosities being protected, it has brought together families, communities, races, countries so that we can all conjoin into one big fight for the equality  of not just white lives or black lives but so that we can be equal to all our brothers and sisters across this nation

"i have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed... that all men will be created equal"

and with this we say

Thank you

Emmett Till

Rodney King

Eric Gardner

Trayvon Martin

Sandra Bland

and to all who have fallen for the future lives ahead. These moments of pain are only temporary until our time for eternal happiness.

Thank you
