My Heart

The one thing I could never live without...

Is my heart. I am a man who does not

Wear his heart on his sleeve for fear

That it might get hurt. So I hold it close to

My chest and protect it like a newborn baby

Afraid and seeking nothing more than a soft embrace

And care. Emotions, thoughts, words; none of these

Would be possible without my guardian and mentor.

My heart has taught me all that I know.

How to love, how to fear, and how to learn.

The day when my heart decays is when

I lose my sense of self, and I fear the day

That I experience something so terrible

That it crumbles to dust.
