This is something I've never done before

This isn't a very whimsical tale

Perhaps it could be described as a chore

I do hope that my first try does not fail

Counting syllables is the easy part

Maybe the rhyming is the best challenge

Trying to match the poem to my heart

The rythm I mean, but I can manage

Either way I'll do my best to succeed

It is not the hardest thing I've written

Although I think we'll have to be agreed

It is quite strong, like a well formed chitin

I'll let you look up that word on your own
