My First Love

I know I never will forget
the way you said I love you.
The butterflies I felt
when you glanced me way
Every gentle word and soft touch
will never be forgotten.

I now see distance in your eyes
and I believe you don’t remember,
that I am yours forever
not just for a moment

I know exactly what is coming,
yet I try to avoid
the devastating truth
that your mouth can no longer hide.

The world is tearing us apart
and even though we fight it,
we know what the outcome is,
the world has already won.

Through teary eyes you kiss me bye
and I watch you drive away,
I know I will never be the same
for my heart gives me away.
